Mayor Robert T. Kennedy

Freeport Mayor Robert T. Kennedy has been married for 41 years to his wife Mary. They have three sons; Robert, Vincent, and Michael. In addition, Robert has seven grandchildren; Leah, Olivia, Jack, Vincent, Eliana, Luke, and Alana. Mayor Kennedy enjoys spending time on weekends surrounded by his family, often on his boat accompanied by family and friends at his home to watch the New York Giants. Robert has employed an open door policy to the Village of Freeport's residents and businesses, creating time every Tuesday to meet with and resolve problems within the community and civic organizations.

Mayor Robert T. Kennedy is an accomplished FAA Pilot, licensed U.S. Coast Guard Captain (100 Ton), and a certified SCUBA diver. In addition, he is a member of the NAACP, American Legion, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (Division Chief), Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the United States Conference of Mayors (USCOM, the Nassau County Village Officials Association (NCVOA); Immediate Past President, the New York Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) on the Executive Committee / Vice President, Member of the Town Of Hempstead IDA, Member of the Nassau County IDA, and appointed to the Long Island Regional Planning Board.
