The Allstate Foundation, in partnership with The Injure Free Coalition for Kids is donating a playground to the Village of Freeport! Their motto is that “every child deserves a safe playground to play in”! The Village of Freeport Recreation Center was selected because they wanted to give back to our community because of our Superstorm Sandy devastation. The playground will be installed in the courtyard, on the south side of the Recreation Center located on Mill Road.
There will be individuals sent by the foundation to organize and supervise this installation and we are in need of additional volunteers to complete this community installation project. The $250,000 playground is FREE and will be is supplied by the “Little Tikes'” commercial line which includes all of the grounds work and landscaping. Freeport's Department of Public Works has already done a tremendous job clearing the area.
The installation date is set for Saturday, October 19 and work begins at 8:00 am. Refreshments will be available for volunteers and the formal dedication and ribbon will take place the following week, Saturday October 26th.
