Mayor Kennedy Opposes NYS Budget Actions to Protect Freeport

nycom222_edit

As president of the New York Conference of Mayors (NYCOM), Mayor Kennedy specifically opposed the NYS 2019 Criminal Justice Reforms that create a burden for police departments, to perform their initial "discovery" obligations in a reasonable time. These discovery changes are expected to increase municipal spending and cost Freeport taxpayers in excess of 2.2 million dollars, or a 5.7 % tax increase next year— beginning January 1, 2020.
