Conservation & Regulations
While we are working hard to provide you with the finest water available, we are also applying conservation measures to ensure that future generations will enjoy the same water quality we do today.
Conservation Measures
- Review of new service applications and screening of water intensive users before issuance of water availability letters
- Leak detection programs
- Expedient repairs of water main and service leaks
- System is 100% metered
Regulations
Due to the groundwater pump limitation imposed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the following regulations have been adopted to be in effect as of May 1, 1989. No outside irrigation is permitted between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Persons occupying residences or other establishments with even-numbered addresses may water, hose, sprinkle or otherwise irrigate any outdoor lawn, field, garden, hedge, shrub, or flowers only during the hours from midnight to 10 a.m. and during the hours from 4 p.m. to midnight on even numbered days of the month.
- Persons occupying residences or other establishments with odd-numbered addresses may water, hose, sprinkle or otherwise irrigate any outdoor lawn, field, garden, hedge, shrub, or flowers only during the hours from midnight to 10 a.m. and during the hours from 4 p.m. to Midnight on odd numbered days of the month.
- Persons occupying residences or other establishments without numbered addresses may water, hose, sprinkle or otherwise irrigate any outdoor lawn, field, garden, hedge, shrub, or flowers only during the hours from midnight to 10 a.m. and during the hours from 4 p.m. to midnight on odd numbered days of the month.
- Watering, sprinkling or otherwise irrigating any out door lawn, field, garden, hedge, shrub or flower is prohibited at all times during periods of precipitation.
- The washing or rinsing of automobiles, trucks, boats or similar vehicles is prohibited unless the hose being used is equipped with a nozzle with an automatic shutoff valve.
- The use of a hose, or any watering device whatsoever, for flushing or cleaning driveways, sidewalks or streets is prohibited at all times.
